Microcontrollers are getting cheaper, more powerful and more flexible, but there remains a barrier to a host of new applications; someone has to build the first prototype! With mbed, ARM has focused on getting you there as quickly as possible.
The mbed is built around the NXP LPC1768 microcontroller, which is based on a Cortex-M3 Core running at 96MHz, with 512KB FLASH, 64KB RAM and a load of interfaces including Ethernet, USB Device, CAN, SPI, I2C and other I/O.
Embedded Artists has designed a Prototype board and a Base board that makes it possible to make interesting experiments and prototyping with both mbed and the LPCXpresso boards. If you buy the mbed and the Base board at the same time you save 7 EUR.
